Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez are both out of Chelsea’s squad for today’s game against Brentford, and Mauricio Pochettino was able to explain to TNT Sports before the game what had happened.
The bad news is that they’re both injured. The good news is that they’re not badly injured. Pochettino noted that they had picked up similar problems in training, but it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about, especially on the scale of some of the problems we’ve had this season.
The manager was able to go into quite a lot of detail about the issues when speaking to the club’s official app before kick off at Stamford Bridge:
“Both Enzo and Misha felt something in training yesterday, small muscle injuries for them both. We hoped they would be okay to be in the squad but unfortunately they aren’t quite ready. Neither of them are big issues but we didn’t want to take any risks.
“With Enzo especially, he and his partner have just had a baby so maybe that was a reason why he was a little uncomfortable yesterday! He will now rest and recover and hopefully be back with the team as soon as possible.
“Also with Misha, he was feeling a little uncomfortable but it’s not a big problem. We will miss both of them today but that is why we have a big squad, to cope with issues like this.”
All that matter is getting away from this game with 3 points and moving on to the next one, where hopefully we will have both of this pair back.
