One former Chelsea coach has been surprised at the quality and impact that a current Blues player has made already.
Jody Morris was Chelsea’s assistant manager under Frank Lampard. But before that, he was the U18s manager and heavily involved in youth football.
So naturally he would have been well aware of Cole Palmer and would have come across him on a number of occasions as he was coming up through the ranks at Manchester City.
But even though he was fully aware of the talent and promise that Palmer has, Morris has admitted that even he has been surprised at just how good he has been since arriving at Chelsea from City in the summer transfer window, and the incredible impact he has already had on this team.
Morris was speaking on the Football Daily Podcast this week, and of course, Palmer was a top subject of conversation.
Morris said: “I’ve known about Cole Palmer for years, but I have to say even I’m surprised. I’ve seen him u for youth teams and under 23 teams and stuff like that, but even I’m surprised.”
