There has been a story circulating late this week suggesting there is a chance that Reece James doesn’t make the Euros with England in the summer.
It has stemmed from comments made by manager Gareth Southgate in the press conference yesterday as he named his latest England squad.
I don’t think much at all of Southgate as a manager, but I will still eat my hat if even he doesn’t take James to the Euros, as long as he’s fully fit.
Southgate tried to call James up to this latest squad but James said no because he is only just back from another long term injury and needs doesn’t want the extra workload. Which is fair and natural.
Gareth Southgate: "Reece James doesn't feel he is quite ready after recent injuries, I wanted to call him up."

But it seems Southgate didn’t like it much and has sent an indirect threat to James.
🚨 Reece James risks his place in England’s Euro 2024 squad by turning down opportunity of an international recall to continue his return to full fitness at Chelsea. Story: https://t.co/awkqb32NR2

That sounds like a cheap threat to me. 🤔 https://t.co/DkqXdjn55E

If Southgate doesn’t take a fully fit James to the Euros then that for me should be an immediate sackable offence.
