Nizaar Kinsella has today confirmed something we could have told you already just through educated guesswork – Chelsea are planning to recall Andrey Santos from his loan at Nottingham Forest in January.
Blues fans got really excited about Santos when we signed him last in January, and the hype built through the spring and summer as he excelled in the Brazil youth teams.
But after getting some minutes in preseason he was dumped down the pecking order by the arrival of players like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, and ended up at Forest on loan.
There, tragically, the same thing happened, and he was bumped down the order by signings. He’s ended up playing just 7 Premier League minutes there. He genuinely would have managed more by staying at Chelsea.
Kinsella says that the Blues have a clause to break the deal in January should the Brazilian not reach a set number of appearances by January – and that looks certain.
