€18m midfielder will be desperate to show Chelsea their mistake

Jacob Steinberg’s notes ahead of this weekend pick up on Billy Gilmour returning to Stamford Bridge as a Brighton player.

Now 22, Gilmour’s talent shone in every game he played for Chelsea, but he wasn’t given chances, and a disaster loan to Norwich killed him. Steinberg notes he’s likely to be keen to impress at Stamford Bridge, and we have no doubt in that. He always was a hard worker, and most Chelsea fans still don’t agree with the decision to sell him. We expect him to get a great reception in the stadium on Sunday.

Things didn’t work out for Gilmour at Brighton right away either. He had to work hard to show Roberto De Zerbi his quality, although it seems like he’s now done that quite thoroughly.

Whatever you think of the sale, it’s nice to see a player we still are fond for doing well. We hope he has a bad day this weekend of course, but otherwise we hope to see him running the show against the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in games for years to come.
