Exclusive claims Chelsea will consider bids for midfielder who is reluctant to sign 8 year deal

Chelsea are once again going to try and sell Conor Gallagher to raise money to balance their books after two years of heavy spending.

That’s the word in Matt Hughes’ exclusive in the Daily Mail today, as shocking as it may be. The club tried the same thing in summer, and since then the midfielder has played almost every game, many of them as captain.

But Gallagher is reluctant to sign a new deal of the magnitude (7 or 8 years) that the club want – can you blame him? And that only increases their desire to sell him, before his value starts to drop, with his current deal expiring at the end of next season.

The atmosphere in the fanbase is already dire. If the sporting directors do indeed go on to sell a versatile, useful, much liked, hard working, home grown player just to pay for the average, disinterested players they hand-picked and overpaid for, things may get mutinous.
