Ben Jacobs gave an update on Karim Benzema’s future earlier this evening, and we can’t say it’s great news for Chelsea.
It looks like Al Ittihad, his club in Saudi Arabia, are going to do everything they can to stop him leaving. Even if he wants to come to Chelsea, he might not be able to. He has apparently asked for a loan, but the club want to keep him. After his late return to training, they might feel that bowing to his will sets a terrible precedent.

What’s also interesting is that he doesn’t name Chelsea when he lists some of the interested clubs. That’s despite the Blues being perhaps the most heavily linked, and Jacobs usually having a focus on the Blues. Was this a deliberate attempt to get interactions, or has he been told something he can’t yet reveal?
It’s enough to get you a little excited, but frankly we still this as an almost impossible January move to happen at this stage.
