Reece James is spending a lot of time out injured this season – like most seasons – but at least this time he has a new way to distract himself while the rest of his team are playing.
The newly appointed captain gets to write the programme notes every week for Chelsea, and fans can use them to keep updated with his recovery from his latest setback.
The hamstring issue he picked up at Everton looked like it might end his season, especially when he had surgery to repair it, but according to James his recovery is going exceptionally well:
“In terms of my own situation, I’m progressing really well with my recovery, everyone’s happy with how things are going at the moment. So, I’m in a good place and I can’t wait to join the team again.”
We still don’t expect to see him anytime soon, and perhaps only a morale lifting season ending cameo will be possible. What’s more of a concern right now is that his replacement, Malo Gusto, is also struggling to stay fit. He’s out of action tonight, meaning we expect to see Axel Disasi down the right again.
