Chelsea have long been stuck in a tricky situation up front.
After spending £100m on a disastrous move for Romelu Lukaku, the club are reluctant to spent heavily on an elite option. Yet mid-priced moves are bringing in mid-level players, and we’re no closer to finding the consistent goal threat we need.
Clearly we want to wait for the likes of Victor Osimhen to become available, but in the meantime, we need options to take the pressure off Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja, neither of whom yet look capable of firing us into the top 4.
So names like Artem Dovbyk are intesting. The Sun linked us to the hulking Girona striker currently helping his team overachieve in La Liga. Apparently we’ve sent scouts to watch him and he goes along with Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to add “weight” to his front line.
Valued at just €28m by Transfermarkt, If we really think Dovbyk has the technical ability to hold his own in the Premier League, he could be just the option we’re looking for.
