It was another night of toil up top for Armando Broja last night.
Even as his team scored 6 he wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet – in fact it was worse than that, he was about to score but had his shot nicked off his foot (and into the net) by a defender.
It’s just not breaking for him at Chelsea, and with Nicolas Jackson just a couple of weeks at most away from a return, a potential sale for Broja looks more likely than ever.
Fabrizio Romano backed up our sentiment today with his comments as picked up by GiveMeSport:
“Chelsea are waiting for proposals. I think there will be some conversations, so let’s see what happens,” Romano said.
“West Ham have always been big admirers of the player, and let’s see if Wolves will enter the mix because they also had some contacts to understand the conditions of the deal.
“I think Broja could be one of the names that we mention in the final days of the transfer window.”
We’re against a Broja sale simply because it weakens the options Mauricio Pochettino has available to him. What if Jackson picks up an injury in his first training session after AFCON? On the other hand, given our financial situation, we understand why it’s a move that’s on the cards.
SuperFrank, when you say “we’re against a Broja sale,” what you’re really saying is you’re against getting maximum value for a player who isn’t good enough to be part of our future. The pickings are slim in this window for clubs needing reinforcements up front. If we wait until summer to ship him then, barring some massive turnaround in form, we de-value him as an asset.
You’re always griping that these owners and directors don’t know what they’re doing, and yet they pulled off a coup last summer when they got top dollar for the likes of Havertz and Mount (neither of whom has given us any reason for regrets at their new clubs). And here you are second-guessing them yet again on a player who was a virtual no-show last night.
Let’s face it, your track record on these things is not that great. Take Christian Pulisic, for example. You complained non-stop about him. Insisted he wasn’t good enough (despite ample evidence that, when he was fit and given regular playing time in his preferred position on the wing, he was plenty good enough!) and now he’s gone and won the Serie A Player of the Month for December while posting 7 goals and 6 assists in all competitions, lol! Talk about a stupid call!
As I’ve said before, we’d be a whole lot better off if you’d simply report the news and leave off with this incessant insertion of your (usually poorly reasoned) opinion.
