Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was handed a set of targets by the board over the club’s festive period.
Pochettino has been under some pressure of late, mainly from Chelsea fans who believe he should be sacked and is not doing well enough as Blues boss.

But even still, recent results have seen a improvement in the league position with Chelsea now getting just that bit closer to challenging for European qualification once again.
The Chelsea board set some targets for Pochettino during the festive period, and he has hit those targets.
This is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has just put out his latest exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for SPTC today.

Jacobs explains: “Pochettino was told over the festive period the expectation was to reduce the gap on fifth to single digits, and he’s been able to do that.”
Chelsea are now in 9th position in the league and just three points of 6th place, which would be enough to see them gain Europa League qualification. They are just one point off 7th, which would be enough to get Conference League qualification.
