Two experienced starters return and academy kid drops out of Chelsea’s most likely team tonight

Chelsea players talk on the pitch.

Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference yesterday started with questions about the squad’s injury situation. The Chelsea manager explained that it was likely to be the same squad tonight as we saw on Saturday against Preston.

From that, we can make some assumptions about the team that we will see tonight.

Thiago Silva and Conor Gallagher were both rested at the weekend, so they will come in. That likely means Levi Colwill returns to left back, and Malo Gusto switches back to the right

In midfield Gallagher returns to play with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, with Cole Palmer allowed to return to the right wing. Armando Broja seems certain to keep his place up top.

That means a toss up between Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling to play on the other flank.

The only other potential change would see Palmer given a rest, meaning both Sterling and Mudryk play.

The final team would look like this:

Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Colwill; Enzo, Caicedo, Gallagher; Sterling/Mudryk, Broja, Palmer.
