Chelsea captain “progressing well” and has his boots on as he recovers from surgery

No news is generally good news when it comes to injuries, and that seems to be exactly the case with Reece James and his latest problem.

Bobby Vincent has just given the latest “update: no update” on the right back’s hamstring. James had surgery to try and solve his chronic issues, and Vincent responded to a picture the club captain uploaded showing him with his boots thus:

“Understand Reece James is progressing well and is on schedule. Those around him, though, are reluctant to put a specific timeframe on when he will return.”

It’s not full training of course, but it means he’s progressed from the gym to outside, always an exciting stage.

Of course, as ever, they don’t want to make the date too concrete, otherwise Mauricio Pochettino will get asked about it in every subsequent press conference. But on this evidence, we’re pleased with how things are going, and we should get to see Reece back in action before the end of the season.
