“Did not feel completely comfortable” – Enzo explains poor first half vs Crystal Palace

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has been explaining what went wrong in the first half against Crystal Palace in the Premier League match on Monday night.

The Blues went in 1-0 down at half time and had a heck of a lot of work to do to turn things around. They eventually managed to do just that, but they left it very late indeed.

Chelsea were not great in this match, but the team spirit and togetherness to turn it around and end up winning 3-1 is a testament to them all. The drive and desire to find those goals and try and get on top to win the game was admirable.

But the first half was probably the worst 45 I have seen under Mauricio Pochettino in all honesty. It was terrible, and they didn’t even manage one shot on target and only had one attempt at goal, that one even coming on the stroke of half time.

Enzo has been explaining what went wrong, via the Chelsea website. He said:

“In the first half, I did not feel completely comfortable. They were very compact and had a line of five defenders and four midfielders. It was very difficult for us.

“In the second half, I think we corrected some of our mistakes and we were able to find those spaces that we were missing in the first half. Luckily the victory then arrived, so I was very happy.”
