‘Embarrassed’ – Chelsea board react to Cup Final defeat with Pochettino in trouble

The Chelsea board have apparently reacted to their League Cup Final defeat against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon and could be about to make a massive decision on the future of head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

That is according to a report that came out late last night suggesting that Pochettino could well be in trouble as Blues boss now.

EXCLUSIVE! Massive missed opportunity, Playing for penalties was very surprising, cultural or psychological problems? Next 4 games key for Pochettino, Mentality still an issue, More – The Ben Jacobs Chelsea FC column!

TEAMtalk report that Mauricio Pochettino is now under serious pressure at Chelsea with their sources stating some of the club’s hierarchy were clearly upset and ’embarrassed’ by Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool.

Chelsea should have taken advantage of a heavily depleted Liverpool side that was missing it’s star players and then ended up having to field a largely inexperienced team mainly of academy players who had barely played senior football before, during the end of the 90 and all through extra time.

This has led to claims that Chelsea might now seek another new manager. It appears that some voices in the Chelsea hierarchy are growing tired of excuses and do not see Pochettino as the man who will make a major change to fortunes and results, as per the report.

It goes on to say that many questions have been raised over Pochettino’s in-game management and his use of the current crop of players. Those questions apparently do not just relate to the game on Sunday, with various other Chelsea performances also being heavily criticised too.

  1. Sacking Poch would be a disaster, but that seems to be the Chelsea MO, lol! Hire an architect and then fire him after six months because the foundation he’s just poured isn’t the finished mansion. Brilliant! Brilliant and pathetic and childish.

Everyone who thinks we were destined to win the League Cup (with a squad whose average age is about 23!) but for Poch somehow screwing it up are certifiably insane. It’s a fan base (and a board?) who think that simply spending money should permit you to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. Well, it doesn’t work that way! It didn’t work that way in Arteta’s first season at Arsenal (when he was nearly sacked) and it’s stupidity to believe that it doesn’t work that way now at Chelsea.

City and Liverpool are the class of the league because they each committed to a manger and his vision long-term and let him build something. (Incidentally, this is exactly why those teenagers were able to slot into the Liverpool lineup Sunday and Klopp’s red machine barely skipped beat!) Arsenal are well on their way along the same path with Arteta. Chelsea are fools if they think that merely spending a billion pounds (and skipping over the “building” process!) should somehow automatically result in trophies. I mean, just listen to how infantile and idiotic that sounds on its face, lol! What good are all the best materials in the world if you don’t allow the architect actually build the damned house?!
