Former Premier League manager Alan Pardew believes that Conor Gallagher is Chelsea’s most important player.
Gallagher, 24, has emerged as one of the stand out performers for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season.
The Chelsea academy graduate has played in 24 of the Stamford Bridge outfit’s 25 Premier League games and only missed the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford through suspension.
The England international has contributed three goals and six assists across 33 appearances in all competitions and has thrived recently playing in more of a number 10 position.
Gallagher’s form means he is almost certain to start the Carabao cup final at Wembley against Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking on talkSPORT Pardew couldn’t understand how there were still rumours surrounding Gallagher’s future.
He said: “This is a guy still being talked about of maybe going in the summer, he’s like their most important player. He’s covering so much mileage.”
The former Crystal Palace loanee will only have a year left on his contract come the summer and talks over a new deal have seemingly stalled which has led to him being linked with a move to arch rivals Tottenham.
Gallagher has made it abundantly clear that he wants to stay at the club he has been at since he was a boy and Pochettino has also indicated his preference for the midfielder to extend his stay in West London.
