“I know the points I need to work on” – Rare successful loanee on how he’s getting better every week

In a season which has been very poor overall in terms of Chelsea’s development loans, we’re looking to focus on the positives.

Angelo Gabriel had a few flashes in preseason but was actually shipped off to our sister club Strasbourg pretty quickly. That seems to have worked in his favour. He’s now really settled in Ligue 1, he’s earned his manager’s trust, and is playing well (and regularly) for his team.

They were beaten pretty heavily on Saturday by Brest at home, and we shouldn’t forget this was a second tier team not long ago. But Angelo is developing nicely, and it was interesting to hear his comments about how he feels the loan and the coaching he’s getting is helping:

“I have evolved in certain tactical and defensive aspects. The coach gives me a lot of support on a daily basis. I know the points I need to work on and I want to continue to progress,” he told the club’s official site.

Tomorrow the Alsatians face Lyon in the French Cup quarter final, and we’ll be tuning in to see how both Angelo and fellow Brazilian Blues loanee Andrey Santos get on.
