Mauricio Pochettino is now set to miss out on targets set by the Chelsea board in the summer when he was appointed, according to a report this morning.

This could also lead to more severe consequences for the Blues boss, who is now under real pressure to get results in the next few games.

Pochettino saw his side lose to Liverpool in The League Cup Final on Sunday afternoon and whilst losing to such a good team is not a bad thing, it was the nature in which they lost that seemingly disappointed and angered an entire fan base again and also the club’s ownership.

But according to journalist Simon Phillips writing on his Substack site today, Pochettino was tasked to reach 5th/6th place in the Premier League this season, and that now looks like a super tough and unlikely task at this stage of the season.

Phillips also says that the club at least wanted Europa League football and that also, the pressure is once again firmly on the Blues manager.
