“Mentality of this guy” – Pochettino points at pundit when saying what Chelsea need more of

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has pointed out a football pundit when saying what his current young Chelsea team needs more of.

The Blues boss cut an excited figure at the end of the 3-1 win away at Aston Villa last night, and rightly so.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea’s Pochettino sacking stance, Plans to review sporting directors after unrest at the very top!

It was a big win in the FA Cup fourth round replay against a very good team led by Unai Emery, and every single one of Pochettino’s players had just absolutely turned up for him when he has been fully under the cosh and under pressure all week.

The Argentine was speaking about how much better his players were last night, how much fight they had, and how their mentalities and attitude were absolutely top, which they truly were.

One player who never lacked a strong mentality when he was playing the game was Roy Keane, who was on pundit duties for ITV last night.

In words picked up by talkSPORT, Pochettino rightly drew the comparisons there.

He explained: “We are a young team and Roy, you know very well that it’s about being solid and consistent and that’s the most difficult thing in a young team.

“We need a bigger mentality, sometimes the mentality of this guy [points at Keane], but it’s about finding a balance.

“For me I am so optimistic, I know at a club like Chelsea people aren’t patient and they don’t want to know about the circumstances but the reality is another thing, we’re not the Chelsea that was competing in a different time.”

  1. Poch says it all in that short sound bite. Young team. Inconsistent. Need to learn to bring it every match. The only thing missing is the patience and understanding of the fan base.

It’s actually laughable, given the quality and promise shown in the Villa performance that so many mutinous supporters were labeling the whole project a failure less 24 hrs earlier and calling for Poch to get the sack. Just look at what Chelsea News was publishing (based off of nothing more than two bad results!) and it sounds totally nuts!
