“My options are open” – Chelsea could be in line for £30m or more if academy talent keeps tearing up Bundesliga

Ian Maatsen is tearing things up on loan for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and the money men at Chelsea are presumably already rubbing their hands about how much his value is rising.

They’re banking on a big sum coming in for the home grown left back this summer, and if carries on impressing in the Bundesliga they may even end up getting more than the £30m-odd they were hoping for last summer.

Maatsen, for his part, seems to have given up on the idea of making it at Chelsea, and sounds like he would happily say at Dortmund if it came down to it. Sport Witness translated quotes from Germany where he made it clear that he was very open to staying at Dortmund:

“We’ll see after the season,” the left back reportedly said.

“My options are open” he added.

Maatsen may not get the chance to stay in Dortmund, even if he would like to. Chelsea are going to take the offer from the highest bidder, and he’s just going to have to go along with it.
