Source: There are doubts ‘over the technical side’ of current Chelsea player’s game

Chelsea’s decision makers have a big decision to make and according to one source, there are some doubts over a current player’s technical ability.

This story has been dominating the headlines this week and continues to do so. And perhaps this is because of what happened on Monday night.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher once again proved his worth to the club by getting a player of the match performance and scoring two goals to basically see Chelsea beat Crystal Palace almost single-handedly, taking the pressure off his manager Mauricio Pochettino, for now at least.

Gallagher has been a regular for Pochettino all season, and the Blues boss absolutely wants him to stay. According to The Daily Mail, those feelings are mutual and Gallagher wants to stay too.

But Chelsea have yet to agree a new contract with Gallagher and have doubts over doing so, with Chelsea apparently reluctant to go above their unofficial wage ceiling of around £150,000-per-week.

On the pitch, there remains some doubts.

‘His work rate is unquestionable, his ability to hustle opponents and win the ball back is perhaps his most valuable asset,’ said one well-placed source.

‘But there’s always been a doubt over the technical side of his game.’
