Andrey Santos came on for his debut for new loan club Strasbourg today, playing ten minutes at the end of today’s loss to Lorient at home.
It wasn’t long, but he looked great, and a real improvement on what was seen before his arrival. He’s got plenty of physicality of course, but his calm on the ball was what really stood out here.
The amusing factoid to come from that was that his ten minutes today with his new club was more than he managed with Nottingham Forest in his entire half season there.
It’s an amusing curiosity, but also a damning reminder of how bad that wasted 6 months in the Midlands was.
We’ve all been following him closely since he signed over a year ago, and we’ve all seen his potential when he’s played for his international youth sides especially. All we want now is a solid second half of the season where he picks up lots of minutes and develops as he needs to.
