Thiago Silva has “a chance” to play in Carabao Cup final Pochettino reveals

Mauricio Pochettino has just given his usual pre-match injury update, and today he has revealed that Thiago Silva could be fit for tomorrow’s game.

The defender came off injured late in the game against Crystal Palace, and then watched a Chelsea defence without him perform really well against Man City.

Many fans would rather see their back 4 line up without the Brazilian veteran even if he is fit, but Pochettino was careful not to reveal too much:

“Yes, he has a chance I will see tomorrow if he can be involved in the game.”

Does he really have a chance? Probably, but this feels much more like a smokescreen for us. Pochettino will likely already know medically whether Silva is ready, and beyond that will have made a decision over whether it’s the right move to put him back into the team.

But why show his hand? The team set up and play quite differently with and without Silva in the team (hence the debate around whether he should play), so the more he can force Liverpool to prepare for two different setups the better.
