What Nkunku selection tells us about Pochettino’s plans for this season

It’s been a debate ever since preseason – what will Mauricio Pochettino do when Christopher Nkunku? Does he consider him a striker or a supporting attacker? Will he use him to lead the line?

Through the summer he was used more between the lines, playing off Nicolas Jackson. But today, with both of them fit and available, Pochettino has picked Nkunku as the striker, with Jackson on the bench.

Now there’s a chance that this could be fitness based. But Jackson played very few minutes for Senegal at AFCON and has been back in the country for a few days now, so we think Pochettino would consider him 100% ready.

It could also be something specific to Wolves that’s made Pochettino pick this setup. But to us it seems like maybe his plans have changed since the summer, and we might be seeing a setup which allows him to fit Cole Palmer into the team as well as Nkunku.

Time will tell.

  1. I don’t believe on his ( poch) football philosophy. It a matter of time he will be replace. As I reiterate he isn’t good tactically . He could start mudryk than sterling and badiashile should start to rest Tiago . Mudryk and badiashile needs to start weekend week out for their development . This matter waste of time . I wish they have found much more better manager/ coach to make this team champion again . God bless my favourite team hope for win every game .
