“£200 down the pan” – Pundit can’t believe how weak Enzo – Caicedo midfield

Another embarrassing showing by Chelsea this afternoon earned another wave of amazement on football shows around the world. On ESPN, Steve Nicol laid into the Blues, taking aim in particular at the midfield.

He called Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, out calling their signings “£200m down the pan.”

“Where is the playmaker?”, he bemoaned.

He was highly critical of Conor Gallagher and the way he was being used too.

To be fair to them, we’ve seen them have some good games this season. But today Nicol has a point. They disappeared at home against a relegation side. It was embarrassing. As we’ve seen a lot in the last two years, there was a panic and a lack of heart from the team just when they needed to get serious.

We should really expect more, and our mediocrity has been beaten into us a little too deep perhaps. We are becoming mid table, week by week.
