Attacking midfielder has been “looking to train with Chelsea” ahead of long-awaited league return

Just a couple of years ago, Tino Anjorin was considered one of the brightest Chelsea academy prospects, and there really was a lot of hype about him when he made the strange move to go to Lokomotiv Moscow and try to pick up some Champions League minutes while still a teenager.

That move didn’t work out, and since then his career has just been a series of injuries. It’s a real shame as we’ve all seen flashes of his brilliant talent, and at youth level he was as promising an attacking midfielder as we’ve produced in years.

He’s currently at Portsmouth where he was just starting to find his feet before a bad hamstring injury in August. He’s been out ever since, but is going to return to team training this week, hoping to get a couple of appearances before the season ends, his manager John Mousinho revealed today:

“Tino’s been looking to train with Chelsea, and when those boxes are ticked he’ll be back with us. He does need to tick all those boxes, though, not just in training but also a bit of strength testing,” Mousinho said in quotes picked up by Portsmouth.co.uk.

“He needs to do that before he‘s back with us, but he was at the Burton game and he’s keen to get back. When he does it will be full training, but it will be staged in terms of where we get him to in terms of games. I think anything we get with Tino (this season) will be a bonus.”

Just for the sake of his morale, we hope he does get on the pitch at some point.
