Chelsea begin pro Sterling PR campaign with post on their website

Raheem Sterling is now at the centre of a bit of a PR storm at Chelsea.

His Sunday showing was a disaster – he asked for a penalty from Cole Palmer and missed it, then smashed a free kick so high into the stands that some say it’s still not been found yet.

That frustrated the fans, understandably. So when Mauricio Pochettino took off Mykhailo Mudryk later in the game instead of the winger, there was booing inside Stamford Bridge.

When Sterling did come off later, there were grumbles too.

In the days after, the club has closed ranks to defend Sterling, and those at the Bridge have been roundly criticised in the media for their behaviour.

A piece published just now on the club’s website is titled “Pochettino and Chukwuemeka highlight Sterling influence” and is all about the positive impact the veteran has off the field. The attempts to recover his reputation are understandable, and we’re sure a goal or two will have everyone forgetting all this.
