Chelsea lose vital player with no clear replacement to possible hamstring injury

Chelsea have drawn 2-2 against Burnley at home, a disastrous result in our push for the European places.

To make things worse, we saw Malo Gusto go off injured late in the game. The right back appeared to be holding his hamstring, and we really fear the worst. He’s racked up a lot of minutes since January, and it looks like we’re paying the price now.

It’s the worst possible player to lose in these circumstances given the balance of our squad. Reece James is already out, so Gusto was who we were relying on for the remainder of this season at right back. Without him, it’s the rather ugly sight of Axel Disasi or Alfie Gilchrist at right back. Maybe Marc Cucurella will repeat his attempts to play down that side, as we saw earlier in the campaign.

We will get more information from Mauricio Pochettino in his press conference to come, but it didn’t look good. If it’s even a mild hamstring tweak, it could be a few games out.
