“Completely unacceptable – talkSPORT pundit on Chelsea potentially selling 24 year old star

Jeff Stelling has branded the potential sale of Conor Gallagher this summer as “completely unacceptable.”

Gallagher’s current contract expires in 2025 and so far there hasn’t been a breakthrough in talks over a new deal which has lead to constant speculation over his future.

The 24 year olds form has certainly surprised people this season and he has established himself as a crucial part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team and has popped up with some crucial goals including last minute winners against Crystal Palace and Leeds.

The midfielder has made it clear he wants to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge and Pochettino has also expressed his desire to keep the England international.

Chelsea are expected to spend heavily again this summer but are set to fund it through selling academy players such as Gallagher and his team mates Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen.

Stelling has branded the potential sale of Gallagher as “completely unacceptable” and speaking on talkSPORT said:

“Now we’re in the situation where people know Chelsea need to rebuild, but they can’t afford a rebuild. And the lunacy of it is Conor Gallagher, their best player this season by a street, might have to be sacrificed so they can start some sort of rebuild. Completely unacceptable.”

Gallagher has made 36 appearances across all competitions this season and has scored four goals and provided six assists.
