“Dream come true” for winger as he snags major award

Omari Hutchinson has been given the Championship Player of the Month award for February, after a superb spell where he contributed vital goals and assists to Ipswich’s unlikely promotion charge.

Surrounded by recently relegated Premier League teams with massive wage budgets and top players fresh from the top flight, Ipswich have had to rely on grit, determination, good coaching and a little sprinkle of magic from Chelsea loanee Hutchinson.

He had a tough task earning his place in the team earlier in the season. It’s never easy dropping into the physical Championship as an inexperienced young winger.

“I’m very happy, this is my first award in men’s football so I’m grateful,” the youngster said.

“There’s a lot of players that could have won it, a lot of top talent but I was happy to be chosen.

“Everyone has helped me on the journey. This is my first season in men’s football, so I didn’t know what to expect. I think this season so far has been successful and to be playing in front of the Ipswich fans week in and week out is a dream come true.”

In February he scored three late goals in home games to win points for his side, as well as picking up two assists in away games. You can’t ask for much more from a winger. Here’s to the strong finish to the season for him and his team.
