The Premier League Hall of Fame has made its way through its first class, and is now gradually progressing through those players who are league legends without quite being Alan Shearer.
The most recent addition is Ashley Cole, who it was announced today would join the elite list of top stars
He may have made his breakthrough with Arsenal and won a notable undefeated Premier League title there, but by the end of his career he was at least as well known for his time with us, which saw him lift the trophy several more times.

As the Tweet announcing his entry says, the fact that every left back since has been measured up against him is the best indicated of just how dominant he was, and shows the crazy extent to which he remains the benchmark for left backs in the league.
It will be a long time before anyone better comes along.
