“I don’t believe you” – talkSPORT pundit rubbishes claim he’s heard about Pochettino

Simon Jordan has rubbished a recent claim he heard about Mauricio Pochettino not having much influence over transfers at Chelsea.

The Argentine mentioned on numerous occasions in the January transfer window that he wanted more experience and a goal scorer but no one arrived and the Blues actually ended up letting Armando Broja leave on loan to Fulham.

TalkSPORT host Sam Matterface revealed he heard Pochettino wasn’t having much influence on transfers and said: “Pochettino as far as I understand it didn’t have that much of an influence over the recruitment and it’s because of the fact they have the two sporting directors and a system of trying to acquire talent which is going to fulfil its potential down the line.”

Jordan responded: “What you mean like players like other clubs wanted to buy, like Caicedo and Lavia? Chelsea weren’t the only ones in for these players. I don’t believe you, or your source.”

Matterface then said: “He doesn’t even have the fact of veto that the club want to put a set piece coach into his coaching team, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.”

Jordan replied: “When I hear stories like that I wonder who is telling you that information and why that would be information that would be privy to a journalist and what the motivation for telling you in the first place is.”

The 52 year old is under pressure at Stamford Bridge with fans not happy about the job he is doing as the club  find themselves sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Last weekend’s draw against Brentford appeared to be the turning point with Pochettino subject of unsavoury chants from the away end and chants for former manager Jose Mourinho.

For now the Chelsea board are giving the former Paris Saint Germain manager time to turn things around but if results don’t improve that could quickly change.
