“I hope it’s not a big issue” – More detail on two grim new injuries for Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has just ended his press conference by giving a little more detail on the injuries to Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill which were added to the club’s injury report this morning.

Chilwell was put on the report with the ominous “undergoing specialist medical assessment,” and Pochettino revealed that this was due to a knee injury picked up after the game we played on Saturday against Brentford.

The coach said he “hoped” that it wasn’t bad… but it certainly sounds bad:

“We need to wait until he sees the specialist. I cannot go in advance. I hope it’s not a big issue but after eight or nine months here at the club, I prefer to wait.”

On Colwill (listed by the club as “beginning rehabilitation programme,” Pochettino only was able to add that it was a problem with his toe. On that basis we’re inclined to think that Levi’s problem isn’t too serious – but if it’s enough to rule him out of Monday’s game already it must be pretty sore.

Chilwell’s sounds much more serious – given he’s going to see a specialist and given it’s involving his knee. Frustratingly, we might not know more until Monday night when Pochettino next speaks.
