International break gives Mauricio Pochettino big decision to make about Colwill and his defence

Levi Colwill got injured at a very unfortunate time. He had been rested from the start against Leeds in the FA Cup, and was then taken off after 79 minutes against Brentford. He hasn’t been seen since, with Mauricio Pochettino reporting in his press conference before the subsequent Newcastle game that the defender had a toe injury.

It sounded pretty minor, and it’s already been 20 days since the Brentford game. By the time we play out next game, it will have been almost a whole month, and the 21 year old will surely be fit.

It will be fascinating to see where Pochettino slots him in. Ben Chilwell will be fit to play down the left, and Thiago Silva looks to have been dropped from the regular starting team, meaning Pochettino will have to decide which combination of Colwill, Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah he prefers.

We could yet see all 3 of them play in a back 5 with Chilwell and Malo Gusto, which was what we went with in our last game where all were fit, against Brentford.
