“It would be amazing” – Chelsea star on possible Euros call up this summer

Cole Palmer has said “it would be amazing” if he got called up for the Euros this summer by Gareth Southgate.

Palmer has really impressed for the Blues following his move from Manchester City last summer and has established himself as a key player for Mauricio Pochettino.

In his first season of regular football the 21 year has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists from 33 appearances in all competitions.

His performances earned him a call up to the England squad for the first time and he made his debut for the Three Lions in a 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley last November.

When asked if he viewed the Euros as a realistic target or if the tournament would come too soon for him Palmer told ESPN: “I’m not too sure. I’m just trying to take each game as it comes and if I get picked for the Euros, it would be amazing.”

Palmer’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed and last week he was named as Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.

If the former City man continues to deliver for the remainder of the season like he has been so far then it will be very difficult for Southgate to leave him out of his squad this summer.

Palmer’s immediate focus will be on helping Chelsea win the FA Cup and get back into the European places in the Premier League and the Blues will need him to be at his best for Monday’s game against Newcastle.
