“Not the same player” – Paul Ince on 22 year old Chelsea star

Paul Ince has claimed that Moises Caicedo isn’t the same player he was at Brighton but wants the midfielder to be given time at Chelsea.

Caicedo arrived for a British record fee from Brighton as Chelsea spent heavily in the summer transfer window and the 22 year old initially struggled but has found his feet recently and has put in some impressive performances.

The midfielder has become a key player under Mauricio Pochettino and has featured 34 times across all competitions this season.

He started in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Brentford despite Pochettino claiming his midfield was tired following a run of three games in six days.

However, Ince doesn’t think the Ecuadorian is the same player we saw at Brighton but he wants the midfielder to be given time.

Speaking on talkSPORT he said: “It’s not about the price tag, Caicedo was a top, top player at Brighton, gone to Chelsea and not the same player. Pochettino has got a young team, give them time. You can’t keep sacking managers.”

Chelsea will afford Caicedo plenty of time to fulfil his potential given the huge investment they made in him last summer and the former Brighton man hasn’t even been at the club for a full season so it’s far to early to come to any conclusions on him.

Unfortunately the price tag means that the Ecuadorian’s every move will be under scrutiny from the media.
