Pochettino expected to stick with number one option despite error

WhoScored had Djordje Petrovic as Chelsea’s lowest rated player in the game against Burnley today, with a 5.8 out of 10. The goalkeeper made some nice saves, but he also made what the stats site recorded as an “error”, presumably on the Dara O’Shea goal from a corner.

It’s a tough one. From our perspective, it was something that Petrovic should be saving, and would be disappointed not to keep out given he got his hands to it. But was it a full blown error? It’s right on the border.

In any case, it’s only a small black mark against his name, and given the credit he has in the bank after impressing since coming into the team, we wouldn’t expect it to prompt any changes in Mauricio Pochettino’s team selection. He’s got enough issues in his defence already, the last thing he needs is a second first choice goalkeeper switch of the season.
