Rumours of fan favourite return sparked by claims in Germany

Today’s copy of Bild has a pretty sensational story in it about the future of Thomas Tuchel.

It was decided a month ago that he would be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, meaning he’s going to be back on the manager market in the summer. This report says that he’s keeping a close eye on what’s happening at his old club, with a possible return on the cards.

It will depend on Todd Boehly and the rest of those who made the decision to sack the German coach “swallowing their pride,” and of course on Mauricio Pochettino getting sacked.

We’d love to believe it, but this stinks of something being written just because they know it’s what the fans want, and what will get them clicking on the story. From everything we’ve heard, Tuchel’s relationship with Boehly was totally broken by the end, and we can’t imagine them getting back into bed together after such a painful breakup.

  1. Anyone who seriously wants Tuchel back (especially given the underwhelming job he’s done at Bayern) needs to have their head examined. If we want to talk about exciting young managers with bright futures, why aren’t we talking about Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen (who could be the replacement for Klopp), or Thiago Motta at Bologna? These guys are doing exceptionally well despite having only a fraction of the resources available to their rivals and their teams play with incredible cohesion. Tuchel showed at PSG, Chelsea and now at Bayern that, even if he’s given a Ferrari, he doesn’t necessarily know how to get it out of third gear!
