Fabrizio Romano has struck back against the allegations that Conor Gallagher is demanding more money to sign a new contract at Chelsea.
The last few days saw reports emerge that the club were not willing to agree a new deal with the midfielder unless he lowered his salary demands, reported to be something like £150,000 a week.
But in his exclusive column for Caughtoffside, Romano denied this, and assured fans that the issues with sorting a new deal are nothing to do with the midfielder asking for “crazy money or anything unreasonable.”
Apparently the delay is to do with Chelsea “deciding what they want to do with Gallagher,” and also with their Financial Fair Play calculations.
We don’t see how it’s possible that they don’t know what they want to do with him. This whole situation is totally embarrassing for those who are supposed to be making these deals happen. He’s not asking for crazy money, so pay him and move on.
