Mauricio Pochettino decided to use this week’s pre match press conference to defend his team by saying they should be fourth (based on xG difference stats).
This turn to the data instantly came back to haunt him as his team drew with Burnley at home. On TalkSport, Gabby Agbonlahor launched into a proper rant, quoting some much less flattering facts and stats about this team back at the coach.
He concluded by saying they had “conceded 18 shots at home to ten man Burnley.”
It’s hard to ready that and then agree we “should” be fourth.
