In his press conference yesterday Mauricio Pochettino gave interesting insight on how he’d seen the season so far.
He says he’s been “managing the circumstances” generated by so many injuries and new players, rather than being able to actively coach his team and improve them.
It is a fair way of summing up what we’ve seen – it’s always reactive rather than proactive. From the moment Christopher Nkunku went down hurt in preseason, it’s felt like every move has been a reaction or a compensation for what went before, rather than a step forward. We’re just treading water, thanks to a barrage of injuries.
