“It was huge,” they both agreed.
We’re inclined to agree. It’s only a midtable 6 pointer, but it drags us closer to Europe, keeps the mood good at Stamford Bridge ahead of a run of home games. It takes the pressure off the manager and the players.
It’s not a guarantee of anything, but it takes us one step closer to where we want to be.

For a young squad at a big club every time they figure out how to get a result against a good side it’s a step forward. They weren’t always at their best, especially in the 1st half when they couldn’t seem to play out against Newcastle’s press, so finding a way to win will come as a big learning experience. It was made all the more meaningful because we saw guys like Casadei and Chukwumeka on at the end helping to seal the points.
