Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Chelsea had nine kids from the academy train with the first team yesterday.
The Blues are in the midst of an injury crisis with Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill the latest names being added to the injury list ahead of Monday’s game against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
Despite spending heavily last summer and bringing a lot of players in injuries have meant Chelsea haven’t been able to call on a fully fit squad once this season or field what would be their strongest starting eleven.
Cobham has produced a number of top class players over the years with academy graduates Conor Gallagher, Reece James and Levi Colwill currently first team regulars at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in his pre match press conference ahead of the Newcastle game the 52 year revealed some of the academy players could be involved and that there are some amazing talents.
The Argentine said: “Yesterday, we had nine young kids from the Academy train with us. We know really, really well the Academy players. Maybe they will have the possibility to be involved. We have some amazing talents we need to use in these circumstances.”
It will be interesting to see how many players from the academy are involved on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
