“We have to work on this” – Disasi on where Chelsea need to improve

Axel Disasi has insisted that Chelsea have to improve defensively following Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Brentford.

The Blues took the lead through Nicolas Jackson’s header but then conceded twice in a sloppy start to the second half before Disasi headed in Cole Palmer’s cross seven minutes from time.

The 25 year old was part of a back three alongside Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah as Mauricio Pochettino made a tactical switch to try and combat the threats of Brentford which certainly worked in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half was a different story and despite rescuing a point for his team Disasi had no doubts on where he ands his team mates need to improve.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the game he said: “As a defender of course, when you play every game you want a clean sheet.”

“We have to work on this. It’s not only about us as defenders.”

“It is about all of the team. We have to stay together and to improve on this part of our game. Before the game we knew this team love to cross and put the ball into the box. They scored like this so we have to work hard on this and look to keep clean sheets in the future.”

Disasi has established himself as a regular for Chelsea this season following his move from AS Monaco last summer and has made 35 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals.

The France international will be back in action for the Blues next Monday night against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
