“We will see tomorrow” – Another Chelsea player looks doubtful for Monday night clash after virus

Mauricio Pochettino has just revealed in his press conference this morning that Conor Gallagher has a virus, and has missed three days of training.

“Gallagher is not training because he has a virus,” Pochettino explained.

“He hasn’t been here in the last three days while we were training. We will see tomorrow or on Saturday if he has the possibility to train. The problem [with a virus] is that that you lose weight and your energy is down.”

This is a huge blow for the team, which is already stretched thin in midfield. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are being run into the ground thanks to a lack of alternatives.

Could this be the moment we see Cesare Casadei get his first senior start for us? He’s a different type of player to Conor, but is perhaps the only true central midfielder fit and ready to go against Newcastle.

The only good news is that this is an early press conference building up to a game on Monday night. It’s not impossible that starboy Conor makes a miracle recovery in time – but he’d need to be training tomorrow.
