Victor Gyokeres is not looking to stick around in Portugal.
When teams were interested in January he made it clear he wanted to stick around and battle for the title – and since then he’s been smashing in goals at quite some rate, doing his part to make it happen.
But nobody is under any illusions about this summer – he will want to get his big move, and Sporting will want to cash in while he’s hot property.
TeamTalk today claim that he’s already “looking forward” to a return to English football in particular. Last seen in the Championship with Coventry, a return to play for Arsenal or Chelsea would be pretty special for him.
It certainly puts other, non-Premier League teams interested (like Atletico Madrid) at a disadvantage, although Chelsea are still surely pretty far behind Arsenal in the race given they will be able to offer Champions League football right away.
