Chelsea join list of teams in pursuit of €25m valued player tearing his domestic league up

Rising star Georgiy Sudakov has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool a lot in recent months as his rise with Shakhtar Donetsk goes on, but now sources like Caughtoffside are throwing Chelsea into the mix too.

The 21 year old attacking midfielder clearly has a big future, with a great goalscoring record for Shakhtar and a bunch of Ukraine caps already.

A move to the Premier League or another top European league seems a likely next move, with his creativity and eye for goal an asset for anyone.

He has a £100m release clause, although nobody is expecting him to cost that much in the final reckoning. Transfermarkt have him valued at just €25m, and we expect a real fee to be somewhere between the two.

Another try at a rogue market

Chelsea may feel a little burned by their experience in signing Mykhailo Mudryk under similar circumstances. They went all out to sign the winger ahead of Arsenal, and basically were happy to pay whatever Shakhtar wanted to secure the youngster.

It just hasn’t worked out, and whether or not you believe that Mudryk has the ceiling to get a lot better, what can’t be disagreed with at this point is that we overpaid massively for him, given how raw he is.

Sudakov looks a whole lot more polished, but it still seems likely that we are going to be wary about risking a very similar import. The situation is almost the same, with other top Premier League clubs in the chase, and we risk being fleeced once again.
