Top source confirms key Chelsea player’s season is over after surgery in breaking news

One key Chelsea player’s season is now over already with 6 games left to play, according to a top local source this afternoon.

In breaking news out just moments ago, Argentine source Gaston Edul of TyC Sports, has confirmed news from this morning that put fear into Chelsea fans.

Sources: Former Chelsea player still being considered for return to club

Enzo Fernandez has today had surgery for a hernia injury and he will now be out for ‘several weeks’ recovering, meaning his season is over now.

Edul wrote, ‘Enzo Fernández decided to have surgery for the hernia. It is operated today. He’s going to have several weeks off. He did it now to reach the Copa América without any problems.’

I am sure it was a decision that was made alongside Chelsea, but it looks like Enzo largely did it now so he can play in the Copa America with Argentina this summer. He played for Chelsea on Tuesday night and has been playing all season through this injury. But it looks like if this news is true, which it is highly likely to be coming from such a good local source, then Enzo has decided to sacrifice the last 6 games of the season with Chelsea so he can play for Argentina this summer.

You can fully understand this choice. Chelsea don’t have a lot to play for now other than a Europa League spot, and I fear that him continuing to play matches for Chelsea anyway would have only made the injury worse. He can recover now, get over it, and come back fresh for Chelsea in pre-season. At least that is the dream.

Enzo’s form has clearly been effected by this injury this season, he’s been a very different player to the one we all witnessed when he first arrived and the player who bossed the midfield for the Argentinian World Cup winning side.
