(Video): Chelsea star disappoints despite wicked finish and will struggle for more starts

Noni Madueke made the crucial intervention in our late midweek win over Manchester United last week by winning a penalty. He was rewarded with a start against Sheffield United at the weekend.

The Chelsea TV cameras were watching him up close as part of their “match cam” feature.

He wouldn’t have to do that much to improve on Mykhailo Mudryk who was quiet against Man U, and who he was replacing.

Madueke ended up scoring a great goal, in classic Noni style – he cut in from the right and drilled the ball in at the near post. But while it sounds harsh, that was about all he did. There wasn’t nearly enough attacking production from our attacking players, including him. The stats from the game were embarrassing considering the opposition, and while Noni can fairly point to his goal, the other 59 odd minutes he played were very quiet.
