€23m valued Chelsea target attended Arsenal match – but won’t be able to make transfer this summer

As the summer transfer window draws closer, we’re getting new targets popping up all over the place, and today’s news comes from the Netherlands, where we’ve been linked with a talented 22 year old.

Quilindschy Hartman plays for Feyenoord and has been an impressive part of their rise in the last two seasons. 1908.nl says we’ve already “opened talks” with him and have scouted him for some time. They value him at €23m, a solid fee considering he’s got extensive experience for his age.

The twist is that he injured his knee in March, and after having an operation isn’t expected back until well into next season, ruling out a summer move.

It’s also noted that he attended the Chelsea Arsenal game last week. It’s not clear what he might have thought – perhaps he was put off the idea of playing for this group, or perhaps he saw Marc Cucurella up against Bukayo Saka and thought “I can do better than that!”

A new Malo Gusto

The turnover at left back at Chelsea has been insane in recent times – we’ve simply not been able to figure it out, mainly thanks to constant injuries. The Marcos Alonso – Emerson Palmieri era ended, and since then we’ve had Ben Chilwell, Cucurella, Lewis Hall and Ian Maatsen all on the books, with Levi Colwill also playing a lot there at the start of the season.

Yet with all of their situations very up in the air, we’re left without a reliable first team option. Much like with Malo Gusto backing up Reece James on the right, if we’re going to have injury prone Ben Chilwell as our first choice, we desperately need a super reliable backup.

Could Hartman be our Gusto of the left? He’s got the right age and profile. It’s certainly something to watch out for when he’s back from injury.
